Effective communication is essential for building trust and rapport with residents and attendants are expected to adhere to the following:  

Verbal Communication:

  • Using clear, respectful, and person-centered language.
  • Adapting communication styles to meet the needs of residents with speech or cognitive challenges.

Non-Verbal Communication:

  • Observing residents’ body language and expressions for signs of discomfort or distress.
  • Using gestures or assistive devices to facilitate understanding.

Collaboration with Team Members:

  • Sharing information effectively with fellow staff members during handovers.
  • Participating in team discussions to improve care practices.
