Working in an ICF/DDN facility often involves handling complex situations. Attendants should be prepared to:

  • Respond to behavioral challenges by using de-escalation techniques to calm individuals during episodes of aggression or anxiety.
  • Apply positive reinforcement strategies to encourage and reinforce desired behaviors.
  • Provide immediate first aid or CPR when necessary
  • Notify medical staff or supervisors promptly in the event of a health emergency
  • Document any refusal of care and report to supervisory staff for further follow-up
